Here's a preliminary listing of medicinal herbs for the herb garden. Herbmed.org and other sites provide the Latin name, link to a search for images, and of course, to research-based information about use, cautions, and adverse effects. The plan is to have a medicinal herb garden with links to good information - and of course, the garden will be ornamental!

Aloe vera
Black cohosh
Burdock
Calendula
Capsicum
Chamomile
Chaste tree
Cranberry
Dandelion
Dong Quai
Echinacea
Evening Primrose
Feverfew
Garlic
Ginger
Ginkgo
Ginseng
Goldenseal
Hops
Juniper
Kava
Lemon balm
Licorice
Lobelia
Meadowsweet
Nettle
Passionflower
Peppermint
Saw Palmetto
Scullcap
St. John’s Wort
Thyme
Turmeric
Valerian
Wild yam
Willow

Hi Carol,
I adjusted the post a little because some urls were too long. Wouldn't it be better if you made the names contain the links?
If lines are too long sometimes the sidebar is not displayed, or pushed down.

What do you think of the idea to place an relevant image at every post? We can host the images at Flickr in the pool of SLML, make tags.
That way the blog will become a very visual thing. And that is what people like. The pictures have to be relevant and of good quality ofcourse.

Cornealius - thanks so much for checking out the SLML Blog! Your question's a good one - I should have made that more clear.

We are in the process of filling up our new library with resources, and complementary & alternative medicine information is an important part of that. What we have in mind is to build a medicinal herb garden whose images can be linked to RL information about the herbs and their uses and effects. Right now, these links are simply to images, not to information - I was trying to come up with a core list to give the person who has offered to help create the garden.

Does that answer your question? Please, feel free to comment and question!
